The message 'Knife, Wire, Srebrenica' shocks the returnees near Nevesinje

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - Bosniak returnees in Nevesinje were shocked and disturbed by the message "Knife, Wire, Srebrenica" (Nož, žica, Srebrenica) written during the night from July 31 to August 1 at the old bus stop in the village of Hrušta near Nevesinje.

An unknown perpetrator or several of them wrote this monstrous message with the Serbian symbol 4S and a cross on the previously drawn state flag. The Bosniak returnees are in shock and complete disbelief because this kind of vandalism did not happen in the area of Nevesinje for a long time.

"We understand this message, in the light of current political events, as an extremely serious threat. We are afraid. The messages are anti-civilization and extremely ugly", points out Džemal Šendro, one of the residents of the village of Hrušta.

According to him, the locals informed the police in Nevesinje about this graffiti, and the on-duty team performed an investigation and made a report. Šendro expresses hope that the perpetrators of this shameful act will be discovered and identified as soon as possible, and their names and motives will be made public. He called on Bosniaks in this area to remain calm and restrained, but also to be careful.

"We must remain persistent and fearless. Hate must be defeated! It does no good to anyone. Justice and truth are the greatest ideals of civilization and in the long run they are the only perspective for the coexistence of peoples and citizens in Bosnia, and especially in Herzegovina," said Šendro.
