SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović, when asked what he expects from the new High Representative Christian Schmidt and whether he expects that the dismissals of some politicians from the Serb people would contribute to unblocking the process in BiH, he thinks there will be nothing special in the first month.
“But if this policy and approach continue, politicians in RS will inevitably face a clash with the institutions of BiH, the international community, the PIC and the OHR, and I am not sure that in that clash they will be able to overpower. I hope that RS politicians will give up and change their attitude before those possible dismissals you are talking about,” stated Izetbegović.
He pointed out that there must be peace, stability in BiH, and that crimes, genocide cannot be denied, and the verdicts of The Hague Tribunal cannot be opposed.
He assessed that the new High Representative Christian Schmidt is a politician with vast experience.
"A very determined and successful German politician who has the German state behind him and in fact a complete civilized world, PIC countries, the Quint and others," said Izetbegović.
SDA Vice President Adil Osmanović said that the practice showed that the Bonn powers were introduced because politicians in BiH did not act in accordance with the Constitution, and thus in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"If the Dayton Peace Agreement had been respected until 2004, the Bonn powers would never have been introduced," Osmanović believes.
He expects the new High Representative Christian Schmidt to have same principles towards all senior officials in BiH, from both entities, from all cantons, and that is to insist on the establishment of the rule of law.
