Almost 330 000 tourists in the first six months in BiH

SARAJEVO, August 4 (FENA) – The total number of tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period January-June 2021 was 328,624, which is 54.4 percent more than the same period in 2020 and 757,839 overnight stays, which is 49.5 percent more than last year.

Out of the total number of tourists, 195,502 were domestic and 133,122 foreign guests.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists in the first half of this year was higher by 106.7 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was higher by 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays was 57.8 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 42.2 percent, according to the BiH Statistics Agency.

As a reminder, in the first six months of 2019, the year before the Covid-19 pandemic, 713,745 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina (504,416 foreign and 209,329 domestic). Also in the first half of that year, tourists realized 1,454,904 overnight stays in BiH.

In terms of overnight stays of foreign tourists in the first half of this year, the highest number of overnight stays were realized by tourists from Serbia (27.8 percent), the United Arab Emirates (13.8 percent), Croatia (13.4 percent), Montenegro (4.8 percent), Saudi Arabia (4.2 percent), Slovenia (3.6 percent), Turkey (3.3 percent) and Germany (3.2 percent). Tourists from other countries realized 25.9 percent of overnight stays.

According to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, in the first place are Finns with an average stay of 8.8 nights, Iranians with 7.3 nights, South Koreans with 5.7 nights and Latvians with 5.2 nights.
