SARAJEVO, August 8 (FENA) - The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting an extensive investigation into the smuggling of weapons and military equipment from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of France, intended for sale on the illegal market and criminal activities.
Within this operative investigation, competent authorities identified and apprehended the suspect C.M., and sized 10 automatic rifles and ammunition boxes in the area of Orašje, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced.
The suspect is charged with operating within an organized group, and finding illegal automatic firearms in BiH, which was then hidden and smuggled in vehicles from BiH into France, and handed over to persons who were in contact with the suspect.
As part of this investigation, cooperation was established with partner institutions of the Republic of France.
The suspect is charged with the criminal offense of "Unauthorized trafficking in weapons and military equipment, and dual-use goods".
The BiH Prosecutor’s Office requested from the Court of BiH to order custody for the suspect.
