SARAJEVO, August 31 (FENA) - The establishment of the first Center for Safe Internet in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2018 is the most significant result of a three-year project designed against sexual violence against children online, according to the implementers of this project entitled "Stop violence against children: Preventing and Combating Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children in the Digital Environment in BiH (EVAC)".

The project coordinator from the International Solidarity Forum (EMMAUS), Belma Gijo, stated at a press conference in Sarajevo today that protocols have been signed with the FBiH Police Administration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the entity of Republika Srpska and the Brcko District Police in order to prevent and combat this type of violence. The result is very good cooperation between the NGO sector and public institutions in this case, said the organizers of the press conference and reminded that EMMAUS, together with UNICEF and Save the Children, began the implementation of this project three years ago.

Belma Gijo reminded of the three components of the Center for Safe Internet (www.sigurnodijete.ba). The first is an informative component on how to protect yourself from inappropriate content on the Internet; the second, a phone line for anonymous reporting of inappropriate content, and the third, a support system for victims of digital violence.

A free telephone line "Helpline" 0800 22323 has been launched, available to children, their parents and other citizens for free support and advice in case someone has been a victim of online violence.

Eneid Hasanović, a senior inspector at the FBiH Police Administration, also a participant in the press conference, said that educating children and parents means the first line of defense against this type of violence.

The FBiH Police Administration uses the resources of the Center for Safe Internet in terms of interviewing the victim in the presence of a psychologist, and as a government sector also participates in the production of appropriate video materials and cooperates with international agencies.
