Cikotić and Folkestad discuss security sector reform and BiH's NATO path

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 2 (FENA) - Capacity building of institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and improving readiness to respond to all security challenges is a key priority of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the BiH Security Minister Selmo Cikotić during today's meeting with NATO HQ Sarajevo Commander, Brigadier General Eric Folkestad.

He emphasized, at the same time, that the support and continuation of partnership relations with international organizations, and especially with NATO, is very important for achieving that goal.

Cooperation between the BiH Ministry of Security and NATO was especially important during the response to natural and other disasters, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, said the BiH Ministry of Security.

During the meeting, the officials affirmed NATO's commitment to continue supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in security sector reform in order to improve the security of BiH citizens, but also to meet the conditions on the path to the EU and Euro-Atlantic integration.

They discussed the exercise of protection and rescue services and the Armed Forces of BiH, which will be held at the end of the month in Mostar, where the NICS system will be used, whose application facilitates the coordination and communication of rescue services on the ground.
