Joint declaration signed at 'WB 5 Graz' defense ministers conference

SARAJEVO/KREMS, September 14 (FENA) - As part of the official visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Austria, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić participated in the Conference of Ministers of Defense in WB 5 Graz format.

The Conference of Defense Ministers of the five Western Balkan countries (WB 5 Graz format) was held from 13 to September 14 in Krems, Republic of Austria.

In addition to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Austria, Claudia Tanner, who is the host, the conference was attended by the Ministers of Defense of the Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia.

The conference aimed to expand regional cooperation between the countries participating in the conference, which would further contribute to stability in the region.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Austria, Claudia Tanner, emphasized that she sees the potential for sustainable security and stability in the Western Balkans in the field of security and defense policy under the auspices of the EU, through capacity building and dialogue in various formats.

Expressing gratitude to Minister Tanner for organizing the conference, Minister Podžić pointed out the successful bilateral defense cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the ministries of defense of the participating countries, and stressed the need to strengthen regional cooperation, which has a positive impact on overall stability in the region.

At the conference, a joint declaration was signed by the Ministers of Defense of the countries participating in the conference, which deepens regional cooperation and provides additional cooperation mechanisms.

The joint declaration, among other things, reaffirms the importance of mutual cooperation in the event of disasters and pandemics, and considers the possibilities of new forms of training and education, especially in areas such as military training in mountain conditions, ABHO, public relations, demining, safe storage of ammunition and weapons, disposal of unstable materials in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, as well as migration management.

In addition to the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić, the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of BiH also included Assistant Minister of Defense for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović, Military Attaché of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Austria Brigadier Edin Bajramović, Chief of Cabinet Kemal Korjenić and Expert Advisor Violeta Kuljanin, it was announced from MoDBiH.
