SARAJEVO, September 20 (FENA) - Employees in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered today, at the Square of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a peaceful protest to express dissatisfaction with the failure to sign a collective agreement which leaves the employees in state-level institutions in an uncertain legal position.

As the president of the Independent Trade Union of Civil Servants and Employees in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Salih Karčić, said, they have had no communication with their employers.

"We are the only country in Europe that has not signed a collective agreement with employed civil servants. If we had a collective agreement, there would be no talk of a budget. They would know that it is our obligation to pass the budget," he said.

He also underlined that their salary base of 475.69 KM has not increased in the last ten years.

"We in the state institutions have not had a salary increase for ten years. We don’t think that salaries are better at the entity level, but a big difference has been made in the last ten years. That is why our human rights have been violated," they pointed out.

"IT experts are wanted everywhere, they are practically non-existent at the unemployment bureaus and our employees in the IT services have a salary base of 760 KM," he said.

Today's peaceful protest is the second in a row, and they say they plan to continue protesting until their demands are met.
