Brammertz and Tadić discuss the prosecution of remaining war crimes cases

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 21 (FENA) - Justice for victims, punishment of war crimes, protection of security and rights of all citizens, and reconciliation and rule of law in the region, were the topics of a meeting held today in Belgrade by the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts Serge Brammertz and Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Gordana Tadić.

Brammertz expressed support for Chief Prosecutor Tadić and her office, as well as the Special Department for War Crimes, in their efforts to process war crimes cases in the region as efficiently as possible, so that regional prosecutors could fight impunity for war crimes 26 years after the end of the war in former Yugoslavia.

The meeting was held within the framework of the Regional Conference of Prosecutors on War Crimes Prosecution, which is being held in Belgrade, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of the United Kingdom, the Prosecutor's Office said.
