ŠIROKI BRIJEG, September 22 (FENA) - Commenting on how the Chinese President Xi Jinping's announcement that China will no longer invest in thermal power plants abroad will affect the construction of Block 7 of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant, the FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić said on Wednesday that the government should look into the ways to end this project in a regular and legal manner.
"I heard the news from the media. The moment it comes as an official decision, then there will be an official statement. If the decision is as we heard from the media, then we should sit down and think about the directions to end this project in a regular, legal manner," Džindić told FENA during a visit to FEAL, adding that the alternative must be energy from renewable sources.
He stated that currently, as far as Block 7 is concerned, the FBiH government has forwarded the information to the Parliament.
"Last week, we received official information from the Parliament to propose certain conclusions that will be treated during the debate. This information was sent by the ministry to Elektroprivreda BiH, the supervisory board and the management.
We have given seven days to comment and submit working material to us through conclusions on what should be debated in the Parliament. Therefore, the Parliament gives the final consent, and the signatory of the contract is Elektroprivreda BiH, which is owned by the Government of FBiH, with our strategic partner from China," said Minister Džindić.
