MOSTAR, September 22 (FENA) - "Mostar Cycling Race" is the name of the event organized today by the Sports Association of the City of Mostar in cooperation with the Cycling Club Mostar, on the occasion of the World Car Free Day.
The bike ride started at 5 pm in front of the Mepas shopping center on an 8.5 km long route through the city with the participation of a large number of cyclists.
"Car Free Day" is an international day marking the end of "European Mobility Week", which runs from 16 to 22 September.
“In this way we celebrate the Car Free Day and join 750 cities in Europe that celebrate today in the same way. It is a global event that encourages the population to give up cars every day and explore more sustainable ways to travel,” President of the Mostar Cycling Club Toni Zorić told reporters.
In order to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, the EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, also participated in the Mostar Bicycle Race.
“Today we are here to invite people to get out of their cars, to use bicycles, to go running, walking, hiking. We are starting in Mostar, but we want to spread the message throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Ambassador Sattler told reporters.
The event is sponsored by the FBiH Ministry of Education and Science.
