Izetbegović at the meeting of presidents of the parliaments of WB countries

SARAJEVO, September 24 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović will take part in a meeting of the Speakers of the Western Balkan Parliaments to be held in Ljubljana and in Brdo near Kranj as part of Slovenia's presidency over the Council of the EU on September 27.

The meeting, hosted by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Igor Zorčič, will focus on the role of parliaments in restoring confidence in the EU enlargement process.

It is expected that the participants of the meeting, in addition to the host, will be addressed by the President of the European Parliament David Maria Sassoli, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Anže Logar.

The meeting should end with the adoption of a joint statement in which the participants are expected to emphasize the need to put the enlargement process high on the EU's list of priorities and emphasize that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is strategically important for security, stability and prosperity, as well as for the future of the EU and its member states.
