Energoinvest and Serbian Transportgas reach gas transport payment agreement

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 27 (FENA) - Energoinvest announced that at the end of last week, with the support of the newly appointed BH Gas Management, it managed to reach and sign an Agreement on terminating gas transport operations with Serbian transporter Transportgas Serbia as of April 1, 2021, ie. from the day when BiH switched to the Turkish Stream for gas supply.

According to the provisions of the Agreement, the Serbian transporter Transportgas Serbia has accepted to return the funds in the amount of 896,000 dollars, ie. 1,499,107.46 KM that the previous management of BH Gas paid to Transportgas Serbia for non-provided gas transport services in the period from April 1 to August 31 this year.

Given the turbulences and increase in gas prices on the world market that have occurred in recent months, these funds will be primarily aimed at amortizing the increase in gas prices for consumers in the FBiH. The issue lies also with the spent funds that belong to the citizens of the FBiH - gas consumers, which the previous management of BH Gas paid to Transportgas Serbia on its own initiative and unjustifiably.

Energoinvest is undertaking the same activity against the Hungarian transporter FGSZ, which has also received a request for a refund in the amount of 1,019,301.60 dollars, ie. 1,705,404.72 KM.

Unfortunately, given the response and reactions of the Hungarian transporter so far, Energoinvest will most likely be in a position to initiate arbitration proceedings for the return of these funds, as well as the return of the rest of paid funds for transport services charged over the approved tariffs by the Hungarian transporter over a number of years.

Energoinvest informed that the supply of gas to consumers is completely orderly and according to the planned quantities, and that there are no reasons for unnecessary alarm of the public, which has been happening in recent days in the media.

"The unprofessional allegations about the alleged impact of the Turkish Stream on prices and stability of gas supply are especially incorrect, because it is only an advantage, and events on world stock exchanges are what affect gas prices," Energoinvest said.
