SARAJEVO, September 30 (FENA) - The Law on Real Estate Brokerage came into force in the Federation of BiH, which for the first time in the Federation legally regulates this activity.

This was confirmed in an interview with FENA by the Federal Minister of Trade, Zlatan Vujanović, stating that as of today, the competent market inspections are being given a legal tool to suppress illegal work in this activity.

"The Law on Mediation in Real Estate provides penalties for those who do not respect it, and they range from 1,000 to 30,000 KM, depending on whether the law has been violated by a natural or legal person. The law prescribes a fine in the range of 2,000 to 10,000 KM for illegal work of individuals who mediate in real estate transactions for a fee. Inspection supervision over the implementation of the Law and bylaws adopted on the basis of this law is performed by federal and cantonal market inspections," said Vujanović.

Speaking about the reasons for the adoption of the Law, he stated that the current absence of special legal regulations governing the activity of real estate brokerage is the most important reason, due to which a number of problems have arisen in this area. According to him, the most affected were registered business entities engaged in this activity, as well as citizens and legal entities that use mediation services.

Also, a very important reason for the adoption of this law is the creation of legal security for citizens and legal entities in the use of mediation services, placing this activity in the legal framework and especially the suppression of illegal work of persons engaged in mediation.
