Representatives of Joint Committee on European Integration meet with Terlecki

SARAJEVO, October 4 (FENA) - Chair of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHPA) Nikola Lovrinović and Deputy Chairs of the Joint Committee Lazar Prodanović and Halid Genjac talked today with Deputy Marshal of the Polish Sejm Ryszard Terlecki and the lower house delegation of the Polish Parliament on the continuation of the enlargement process of the European Union (EU) and the process of European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 
Emphasizing the fact that the process of European integration of BiH is burdened by the current political crisis in our country, members of the leadership of the Joint Committee on European Integration of BiH informed Deputy Marshal Terlecki and members of the Sejm about the content of 14 priorities from the European Commission's opinion on BiH's EU membership.
 
The guests from Poland were also acquainted with the content of the Proposal of the Declaration on Obtaining Candidate Status for EU Membership, which was sent to the parliamentary procedure by the Chair of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the BiHPA Nikola Lovrinović and which asks the European Parliament to support BiH granted candidate status for full EU membership.
 
Deputy Marshal Terlecki and members of the delegation of the Lower House of the Polish Parliament confirmed that Poland strongly supports the continuation of the EU enlargement process to all Western Balkan countries, as well as the inclusion of BiH and all countries in the current dialogue on Europe's future.
 
In his speech, Deputy Marshal Terlecki called for the creation of a Balkan Visegrad Group, modeled on the group of Central and Eastern European countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) whose association has contributed to faster EU membership.
 
In this regard, Terlecki put forward an initiative according to which the Polish Parliament would host a kind of summit of the highest representatives of the parliaments of the Western Balkans and the parliaments of Central and Eastern Europe, from which a strong message of support for the process of European integration of the Western Balkan countries would be sent to the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as an appeal to speed up the process.
