Podžić: Military exercise postponed due to worsened epidemiological situation

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 5 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić explained the reasons for postponing the military exercise between the Army of the Republic of Serbia and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that the reasons are the worsened epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic in both countries.

"An insufficient number of soldiers has been immunized, which is why I do not want to take the risk that the soldiers become infected. As soon as the epidemiological situation improves, the exercise will be scheduled again because there is no other reason not to organize it," Podžić underlined.

The BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik, meanwhile, demanded the removal of the defense minister for "disrespecting the BiH Constitution because he canceled a military exercise at Manjača near Banja Luka".

He states that such a decision can be made only by the Presidency of BiH, which is responsible for foreign policy, but Minister Podžić explained that the exercise was not canceled, but only postponed.
