SARAJEVO, October 5 (FENA) - Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivana Hlavsová and Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in BiH Laura Lungarotti visited the temporary reception center Ušivak today.

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to BiH, Ivana Hlavsová, stated that she is glad to visit Ušivak, and that she is impressed by the work of humanitarian workers from IOM and other organizations that provide support to families in this reception center.

“I am also glad for the good cooperation with the local community, I am glad that the children have started going to school and I am glad for all the good things that are happening together with the support of the local community,” said Ambassador Hlavsová.

She said that she visited Ušivak because she wanted to know the results of a project funded by the Czech Republic.

She explained that this is a project that will support the collection and processing of data on migrants staying outside reception centers, support the voluntary return of migrants who want to return to their countries of origin and provide support to state institutions, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and the Ministry of Security.

Chief of the IOM Mission in BiH, Laura Lungarotti, said that today's visit to temporary reception center Ušivak is on the occasion of a project supported by the Czech Ministry of the Interior.

“Today we have good reasons to visit. In the past period, migrant and refugee children started going to school and about 62 children started school,” said Lungarotti.

She mentioned that the vaccination of migrants was performed last week in the Sarajevo Canton, in the temporary reception center Blažuj and the temporary reception center Ušivak.

“The Czech project will support a better understanding of data on migrants staying outside reception centers. Thus, it will support the IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) project. That way, we will know better how to respond to the needs of migrants who are outside the reception centers,” said Lungarotti.

She added that IOM supports the strengthening of the state's capacity through cooperation with the Service for Foreigners' Affairs and the Ministry of Security of BiH.

“Within this project IOM also supports voluntary return home. We are working to support migrants in their decision to return home through IOM’s AVRR program,” Lungarotti said.

The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic supports the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina in migration management through a project funded by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.
