TUZLA, October 6 (FENA) - Minister of Education and Science of the Tuzla Canton (TC) Elvis Baraković talked with French Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Christine Toudic and associates about improving cooperation between the canton and France in the field of education and science, the cantonal government said.
The main topic was the introduction of French language in the education system in the Tuzla Canton.
Ambassador Toudic pointed out the importance of learning French in schools, both in the world and in BiH.
“My battle is the defense of French language, which has lost its place in this country even though that language is present on all five continents. It is an international language that opens new opportunities for young people, it is the language of science,” she said.
The Ambassador believes that a better knowledge of French language in BiH would attract a larger number of tourists in BiH, because, as she stated, the French are increasingly turned towards the Balkan countries due to the favorable security situation.
They discussed the possibilities of cooperation between schools from the Tuzla Canton and schools in France in student exchange, then the possibilities of introducing the Department of French at the University of Tuzla in the coming period, as well as the introduction of French as an optional language in primary and secondary schools.
Minister Baraković expressed his readiness for the mentioned activities, noting that it is necessary to check and examine the possibilities of realization, to get to know schools and students, to do an analysis of potential needs and possibilities.
