SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - Ambassador for Sport at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France Laurence Fischer and French Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Christine Toudic visited the Olympic Museum in Sarajevo today.
After touring the museum's setting, they spoke with longtime museum director Edin Numankadić.
“The goal of the visit is to meet Numankadić, who is a great inspiration, because of his vision he had at the time of the Winter Olympic Games, in the organization, creation, and opening of the museum. What is extraordinary is that we emphasize the culture that was present at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984, through internationally recognized artists, who gave their vision, their creativity, during the games in which they were involved,” said Fischer.
Ambassador Toudic announced that tonight, at a special ceremony, Edin Numankadić will be presented with the French decoration "Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters” as a sign of gratitude for his contribution to the opening of the renovated Olympic Museum.
During her two-day stay in BiH, Ambassador Fischer will talk with sports workers about the development of sports cooperation between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the future promotion of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“I arrived in Sarajevo with a member of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. For us as a host country, it is extremely inspiring to be able to talk about this Olympic event,” Fischer emphasized.
Laurence Fischer is a celebrated French athlete, who has been a five-time European and three-time karate world champion in her long career.
