SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić met with Miroslav Jenča, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs – Department of Peace Operations.
They discussed the current political situation in BiH, the current blockades present in BiH institutions due to the amendment of the BiH Criminal Code by former High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko, which bans genocide denial and glorification of war crimes.
He emphasized that it is necessary to make all efforts for the constitutional and legal system in BiH to be functional, through a legalistic approach towards the competent institutions, from which a timely and adequate reaction is expected. It was also emphasized that any conflict should be avoided by a legal approach.
UN Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenča expressed concern over the current political crisis in BiH, as well as in the Western Balkans.
He emphasized that the Secretary-General and the United Nations are ready to help solve these problems to avoid any incident, that is, that every issue should be resolved through mutual dialogue and conversation.
Jenča stressed that their goal is primarily to provide prosperity, peace, and security to all citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the region.
The officials stated that the direction of action should be directed towards European integration, i.e. towards fulfilling 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, that the focus of action of all political actors in BiH should be directed towards that.
