FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović was in Zagreb today, where he held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković.

The officials discussed the continuation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, cooperation between Croatia and BiH in the fight against COVID-19, changes to the BiH Election Law, as well as completed projects, such as the recently opened Svilaj Bridge and the bridge in Bosanska Gradiška. On the occasion of Čović's recent visit to Petrinja, together with the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković thanked Croats from BiH for donations and assistance in rebuilding damaged buildings in the quake-hit area.

Speaking about the changes to the BiH Election Law, Čović pointed out that the solutions he offered in previous talks with BiH political actors and representatives of the international community fully implement all decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights, and are based on the principle they single it out as the foundation of the constitutional system - the constitutivity of the people.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, said that Croatia was the strongest advocate of the continuation of BiH's path towards membership in the European Union, which is the only one that guarantees the reform and development direction of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that for changes to the Election Law it is important to reach an agreement of all political actors in BiH, respecting the spirit and letter of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement, and the legitimate representation of all three constituent peoples in BiH, Plenković said.
