Plakalo: Negative report of the EC on the progress of BiH is not a surprise

FENA Muhamed Hadžibegić

SARAJEVO, October 20 (FENA) - Secretary-General of the European Movement in BiH Haris Plakalo told FENA that yesterday's unfavorable report of the European Commission on the progress of BiH is not at all surprising.

"The report is completely negative and reflects the current socio-political situation in BiH, in which most of the 14 EC recommendations have not been realized," stated Plakalo.

He added that we could not have expected anything better because the situation was further aggravated by the blockade of state institutions since August this year.

Plakalo believes that it is time to turn to coexistence and tolerance, and not to the prevailing harmful rhetoric that opens the door to new conflicts and raises ethnic tensions.

He reminded that other countries in the region received favorable EC ratings and that BiH is currently in the last place when it comes to the path to EU membership.
