SARAJEVO, October 21 (FENA) - Joint efforts of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Service for Foreigners Affairs (SPS), and other partners, and in coordination with the Ministry of Security of BiH, conditions in temporary reception centers (PPC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been continuously improving since their establishment, with special preparations for the coming winter period.

"We are expanding the capacities of transit centers and supporting the Service for Foreigners Affairs to open a new location in Lipa, which will additionally accommodate 1,500 people. We are now focused on providing support to migrants who have decided to stay out of transit centers, despite the availability of accommodation facilities, and actively promoting their relocation to safer conditions," Head of the IOM Mission Laura Lungarotti told FENA.

As Lungarotti emphasized, with the arrival of colder weather, IOM is continuously working on informing the migrants, who are outside the official accommodation capacities, about the possibilities of their accommodation in temporary reception centers where there are currently enough accommodation capacities for all of them.

"Yes, we have accommodation capacities in all transit centers," she emphasized.

The five reception centers, managed by the Service for Foreigners Affairs with the support of IOM and other partners, currently have 2,707 people and a capacity of 4,530. With the opening of the new temporary reception center Lipa, the capacities will increase by 1,500 beds. Among the migrants currently in BiH, most people are from Afghanistan and Pakistan, followed by Bangladesh, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, India and Syria.

According to the latest data collection and analysis conducted by the IOM Mission, it is estimated that about 1,100 migrants are found outside the reception centers, in unofficial locations.
