SARAJEVO, October 21 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić is taking part in the two-day Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of Council of Europe member states, which is being held in Athens.
Speaker of the Greek Parliament Constantine Tassoulas opened the Conference and the Speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rick Daems and the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić also addressed the audience.
The first topic discussed was "The right to the environment - parliaments and the right to a healthy and sustainable environment," Zvizdić’s office said.
Global crises require a global response and this thesis has been confirmed by the global coronavirus pandemic, which can be brought under control only by the joint action of all countries in the world. The virus does not know state, ethnic, regional, political or any other borders. It is the same with environmental protection.
“Harmful CO2 emissions produced in one country or, for example, in one part of Europe can have consequences for human health in another part of Europe. That is why we need cooperation, and that is why Europe and the world cannot afford any closure and creation of barriers, both physical and borders, in our heads,” said Zvizdić.
