Exhibition by American photographer Ron Haviv portrays horrors of the war in BiH

FENA

MOSTAR, October 25 (FENA) - The exhibition of American photographer Ron Haviv titled "Sloboda" (Freedom), which was attended by the author himself, opened on Monday at the Media Center of the Cultural Center 'Abrašević' in Mostar.

Ron Haviv is one of the most renowned photographers of today. He has worked in over 100 countries around the world and has photographed more than 25 armed conflicts.

In the 1990s, he photographed the wars in the former Yugoslavia, and as an important testimony to that time, he published the book "Blood and Honey".

His photographs record moments of liberation, but also longings for the freedom of people detained in one of the camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"This exhibition is a painful reminder of the horrors of war and my message is that something like this must never happen again," warned the author of the exhibition.

He told everyone to remember the suffering of the people in BiH and that this direction should never be taken again in this country.

Photos of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially those made in the concentration camps, appalled the international public and led to its reaction through the establishment of mechanisms such as the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

Haviv's photographs have won numerous awards around the world, have been on display in famous museums and galleries, and have been used in the trials of the Hague Tribunal.

Brave photographers, cameramen and journalists, who discovered and documented the camps, helped free thousands of detainees and prevented them from ending up in some of the numerous mass graves thruought Bosnia and Herzegovina, the exhibition organizers from the Prijedor Culture Foundation, the ZFD Forum and the VII Foundation reminded.

The "Freedom" exhibition is dedicated to people on both sides of the lens, both detainees and those who brought them freedom.

The exhibition will remain open at the 'Abrašević' Center until October 27.
