SARAJEVO, November 3 (FENA) – Natural gas flow from Bulgaria has been resumed to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina after a pipeline rapture in Bulgaria's gas system was replaced, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić stated at a press conference in Sarajevo, referring to information from the competent ministers of Bulgaria and Serbia.

"In the meantime, when the breakdown happened, we made an alternative - how to ensure a minimum amount of natural gas so that the system stays 'on its feet'. It is very difficult, but we managed to agree on certain quantities in order to meet the needs of the FBiH gas sector. A joint meeting was also held with all actors in the gas industry in the FBiH, with the cantonal companies Sarajevogas and Toplane, and with the FBiH companies - BH Gas and Energoinvest. We also included the relevant cantonal minister and talked about how to switch to alternative fuels until the problem is solved. We managed to agree on that part as well,” said Džindić.

He announced a thematic session of the Government of the Federation of BiH on the situation in the energy sector for tomorrow, one part of which will be dedicated to the current situation in the gas sector. Certain conclusions will be proposed after the last joint talks of the actors of the gas industry.

One of the conclusions will refer to the indebtedness of the managements of Energoinvest and BH Gas to find a solution for storing natural gas for unforeseen situations.

The proposal of the next conclusion for tomorrow's session of the Government will be for BH Gas to accelerate the activities on the Southern Interconnection project and other connections, as well as to increase the supervision and level of maintenance on the existing gas pipeline.

The problem that happened in Bulgaria, says Džindić, can happen at any time, anywhere else.

One of the next proposed conclusions will be for Energoinvest and Sarajevogas to draw up an internal agreement on emergency procurement intervention measures.

The next proposed conclusion for the Government is in the direction of Energoinvest as a supplier to determine, together with other companies from the gas sector, the calculation methodology for the difference between the nominated and consumed quantities of gas.

One of the conclusions that will be proposed to the FBiH Government at the thematic session tomorrow will be that the managements of Sarajevogas, Energoinvest and Toplane harmonize the way of internal savings so that the price, which has risen by as much as 71 percent since the New Year, remains unchanged for citizens until the end of 2021.

In the meantime, an additional meeting was held on this topic and possible models were discussed.

Džindić notes that these models will not be presented to the public until they are harmonized and confirmed by the decisions of the governments - cantonal and FBiH.
