EUFOR continues to support local authorities in maintaining stable environment

SARAJEVO, November 5 (FENA) - EUFOR has confirmed that the UN Security Council has unanimously approved the extension of EUFOR's mandate for another 12 months.

This means that EUFOR will continue to support local authorities in maintaining a safe and stable environment, in close cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the BiH Armed Forces, it is said in a press release. 

"With the renewal of EUFOR's mandate, the international community has sent a clear message of support and trust, acknowledging the results that Operation Althea has achieved over the past 17 years, especially EUFOR's contribution to preserving peace and stability in BiH.

EUFOR is ready to continue performing its duties and fulfilling all its tasks in order to support a safe and stable environment in accordance with the mandate and with 100% commitment to BiH, its citizens and the country's progress on the path to EU integration," said EUFOR HQ Sarajevo.

This also includes support for the BiH Master Plan for Ammunition, Weapons and Mines and Explosives, Demining and collective training with the BiH Armed Forces, which as multiethnic and trained armed forces help restore citizens' trust in a stable and secure BiH.
