SARAJEVO, November 9 (FENA) - The president of the ‘Women of Srebrenica’ association, Hajra Ćatić, passed away on Tuesday without ever finding a single bone belonging to her son, Nino, who was killed in the 1995 Srebrenica genocide.
The news of Ćatić’s death was confirmed by the head of the ‘Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves’ association Munira Subašić.
Ćatić passed away at the General Hospital in Sarajevo, where she had been hospitalized for several days.
Today, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović, sent a letter of condolence on the occasion of the death of Hajra Ćatić, the president of the Women of Srebrenica association.
"I was deeply touched by the news of the death of Srebrenica's mother Hajra Ćatić. With her relentless fight for truth and justice, she showed immense moral strength, which obliges us all to continue her fight," Džaferović wrote in the letter.
He stated that the fact that she passed on, without finding the bones of her son Nino Ćatić, indicates all the monstrosity of the crime of genocide, and the consequences which do not end even after 26 years.
