SARAJEVO, November 11 (FENA) - One of the conclusions from the report on the research on the position of women in the labor market, which was made at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, indicates that women made up 37 percent of the total number of newly employed workers and that the largest percentage of newly employed women is in manufacturing and trade.

The report, which was created with the aim of producing detailed statistics on the needs of the labor market and the representation of women in the labor market, was presented today in Sarajevo. It was realized in cooperation with the project "Improvement of labor market research", funded by the European Union, and in cooperation with the employment offices of FBiH, RS and Brčko District. A total of 2,429 employers were surveyed, and mostly by small businesses (about 80 percent) throughout BiH.

Gianluca Vannini, Head of the Operational Department for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross-Border Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, said that it was very important to conduct such research regularly because it gives the authorities and competent services in the country a chance to continuously improve and create policies which will enable an increase in employment.

Omer Korjenić from the FBiH Employment Office pointed out the fact that 60 percent of the unemployed are women and 40 percent of men, while when it comes to employment the situation is reversed, so most are employed men, more precisely 60 percent, while 40 percent of women.

In order for women to be more engaged, as the Deputy Director of the RS Employment Service, Gordana Latinović, said, it is necessary to stimulate them in connection with certain entrepreneurship, especially for women who are in rural areas.

“It turned out that women can very successfully, responsibly and with quality perform jobs for which men were once destined, so now you have women in politics, good managers and in other activities,” said Latinović.
