SARAJEVO, November 15 (FENA) - A meeting on the epidemiological situation in FBiH was held today in the Government of the Federation of BiH at the initiative of the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, attended by representatives of the FBiH Government, the FBiH Public Health Institute and cantonal prime ministers and health ministers.

The officials stated that the situation in the Federation of BiH is not satisfactory, and they agreed to take new measures.

“We will start tomorrow with the first new measures, i.e. we will strengthen the measures we have had so far when we talk about immunization. The vaccination points in health centers must be open at least three times a week until 8 pm. Mobile teams and plans must be made to go to all rural places, but also places like educational institutions, public institutions, factories, where we have more than 30 employees. It is important to open checkpoints at public gathering places at least once or twice a week, such as the one that already exists at the Sarajevo City Center,” said FBiH Assistant Minister of Health Goran Čerkez.

Bosnia and Herzegovina should follow the practices of normalization of life, as introduced by many European and neighboring countries, which means implementing the rule "vaccinated-tested-recovered".

“The introduction of that rule will be gradual and will start at the end of December. This is an important step, and then will go to all public employees, social institutions, health care institutions, then firefighters, police, education. We cannot remain isolated, having in mind the situation that is currently happening,” said Čerkez.

They also discussed the introduction of QR code, i.e. the creation of all preconditions for the introduction of QR code.

Speaking of Covid passports, he said that the first precondition for all cantons to create their own electronic databases is beginning to be realized. So far, four to five cantons have done so. Others are expected to do the same.

The second topic of the meeting was vaccination, which is still extremely low in the Federation of BiH and we are the last in the region in terms of vaccination.

“The fact that almost 90 percent of patients who are in hospitals are not vaccinated speaks of the importance of vaccination and the need for a proactive approach at the local level,” said FBiH Assistant Minister for Analytics, Planning and Resource Management in Health Marina Bera.

Director of the FBiH Public Health Institute Siniša Skočibušić confirmed that there are enough vaccines from various manufacturers in the Federation of BiH.

“We will have to introduce measures to stimulate people to get vaccinated. In this phase of the worsened pandemic of the fourth wave, when at the FBiH level we have a significant number of people dying from Covid, we must take care of hygiene, physical distance, but by the end of December we will have to do much more,” said Skočibušić.
