BIHAĆ, November 16 (FENA) - The construction of the temporary reception center at the Lipa site has finally been completed, and this reception center, some thirty kilometers away from Bihać, will be opened on Friday, November 19. This was confirmed today by the Mayor of Bihać Šuhret Fazlić, as well as the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton Mustafa Ružnić.

This center will have accommodation capacity for about 1,500 people, and that it should significantly reduce the pressure of a large number of migrants and refugees on the city center, or public areas and abandoned buildings in the center of Bihać.

Today, after a meeting with the cantonal prime minister, Dutch ambassador to BiH Jan Waltmans, and representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mayor Fazlić was quite revolted by the fact that such meetings do not discuss concrete moves and solutions.

"As the mayor of Bihać, I am primarily interested in the safety and comfort of my fellow citizens, i.e. the prosperity of the city of Bihać. I am asking for help so that we can primarily make life easier for the people of Bihać, but also for people who are trying to reach the European Union. It is a bit pointless to organize aimless meetings in such circumstances, which, to be honest, we have been attending since 2018. As a local community, we have done a lot to secure and prepare the location at the Lipa site, so it is logical to expect that this is at least a partial solution to our problems. That is why I just think that everyone together should finally start dealing with serious - concrete things, and less wasting time on protocol meetings," said Bihać Mayor Fazlić.

Prime Minister Ružnić continues to insist on the necessary documentation, i.e. a systemic solution to the issue of the Migrant Center "Lipa", so that, according to him, the citizens of the canton and migrants would not be left in the foreseeable future.

"Everything is ready for the opening of the Lipa center, which was confirmed to us earlier by the International Organization for Migration. We are all happy about that and we expect a significant improvement in the situation, however this time I have to insist on a systemic solution. I am thinking here of the issues of camp management and control, obtaining absolute complete documentation and many other things. When we were asked to reopen the Temporary Reception Center "Bira", we were promised the completion of "Lipa" in three months. Almost a year has passed since then and I think that based on our previous experiences it is completely legitimate to look for an institutional solution and a guarantee that this center and the people in it will not be left to the Cantonal Government, USC MoI and the City of Bihać,” said the Prime Minister of the USC Mustafa Ružnić.
