Employers in FBiH must ensure full safety of employees at work sites

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 17 (FENA) - The FBiH Labor Inspectorate points to the obligation of consistent application of the current provisions of the Law on Occupational Safety and warns all employers in the Federation of BiH that they must provide workers with full safety and health protection at work, i.e. ensure safe working conditions that will prevent the occurrence of injuries at work as much as possible.

According to currently available data, 183 serious injuries at work have been recorded in the FBiH this year, of which, unfortunately, eight with fatal outcome, while in 2020, 166 injuries at work were recorded, of which also eight were fatal injuries and 158 serious injuries.

"Serious injuries at work with severe consequences and fatalities are mostly related to temporary work sites, and as a rule are the result of drastic violations and non-implementation of legally prescribed measures related to safety at work. It is especially important that the measures prescribed by the new Law on Occupational Safety are substantially applied and respected in order to prevent events that cause injuries at work, especially those with severe consequences and fatal outcomes," said the FBiH Administration for Inspection Affairs (FUZIP).

The fines prescribed by the Law on Occupational Safety range from 1,000 to 15,000 KM.
