Izetbegović in Koblenz: Secessionist policies threaten peace and stability

FENA Press release

KOBLENZ, November 19 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović addressed at the ceremony held in the city of Koblenz in Germany on the occasion of November 25, BiH Statehood Day.

Izetbegović said that the goal of the visit to the Bosnian diaspora is to strengthen ties and achieve strong communication, and better care for those who live outside BiH, and whose strength, experience and creativity can help the homeland.

Izetbegović warned of the danger posed by the politics of a part of the political forces from the RS entities, which, as he said, threaten to endanger stability and peace. However, he assessed that there would be no new conflicts and that the worst-case scenario would be avoided by political and diplomatic means.

Pointing to the need to establish the unity of the pro-Bosnian forces, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH said that resolving current fateful issues concerns not only the current generation but also future generations.

“Our message of unity and strength will reduce the chances of bad scenarios and will discourage the enemies of BiH. At the same time, our friends, and we have them quite a lot in the West and in the East, will be more determined to help us if we show determination ourselves,” said Izetbegović.

Izetbegović warned of a hybrid war against BiH, especially Bosniaks. Part of that hybrid war is, he adds, the narrative that pro-Bosnian forces are incompetent and that anti-Bosnian forces dominate.

“When you look at the actual results, figures and facts, and not the media spins, you can easily conclude that the situation is significantly different. Despite all the problems, the Bosniak and pro-Bosnian parties in power still manage to achieve significant results. The recovery of the economy in the pandemic is better than predicted, in the territory where Bosniaks live, 70 percent of VAT is collected, which is an indicator that the economic development in those areas is the best. Only Sarajevo is economically stronger than the entire RS,” said Izetbegović.

Among the successes, he singled out the unblocking of NATO paths, changes in the composition of the CEC and HJPC, removal of the plaque with the name of Radovan Karadžić, removal of the church from the courtyard of Fata Orlović, and appeals preserving state property and citizenship of diaspora citizens.

At the end of his address, Izetbegović called on citizens in the diaspora to exercise their right to vote in the elections, emphasizing the importance of those votes for directing relations in BiH.
