SARAJEVO, November 26 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić, BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović and representatives of lower levels of government laid flowers and paid tribute at the Kovači Martyrs' Cemetery in Sarajevo on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will exist as long as its citizens want it.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina will exist, as long as we believe in it. If we give up Bosnia and Herzegovina, then there is no salvation for it. No one can harm BiH, as long as there are enough people who believe in this country, who are ready to say, show if necessary, that they will do everything to preserve their homeland,” said Chairman of the BiH Presidency Komšić, after laying flowers at the grave of the first President of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović.
BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović emphasized that the equality of all citizens on the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only possible path that this country should take. The message to the retrograde forces, which deviate from that path, is to finally give up those policies.
“It will never succeed with these policies, Bosnia and Herzegovina is stronger than all those retrograde forces that attack it. It has always been like that in history, let them learn something from the past. All those who attacked BiH ended up in the dustbin of history, the Hague tribunal ... The best way for us is to build BiH in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, a multiethnic state, a state of equal peoples, no matter where anyone lived, an efficient functioning state, which will go its own European and NATO way,” he emphasized.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day has been celebrated since the end of the war in 1995 in a part of the state, while in the entity of the Republika Srpska that day is not considered a holiday.
