An appeal to stop Milorad Dodik and respect the Hague verdicts and conventions

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 26 (FENA) - The Association of victims and witnesses of genocide and the Movement "Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves" sent an open letter to the heads of UN Security Council member states, the UN Secretary General, the NATO Secretary General and the highest bodies and officials of the European Union (EU) and urged them to stop Milorad Dodik’s warmongering rhetoric.

“So far, we have twice appealed and called on Milorad Dodik, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President of SNSD, as well as Nedeljko Čubrilović President of the National Assembly of RS to stop creating conditions for provoking conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the letter reads, noting that Milorad Dodik, not only did not stop, but currently "transferred the decision to provoke the conflict to the RS National Assembly.

“In cooperation with the UN, we sent two reports in August and October to the Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu, as well as to Karim Khan, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for endangering peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Violation of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, we believe that Milorad Dodik will not stop, and therefore we send this letter to the heads of UN member states, the UN Secretary General, NATO Secretary General and the highest bodies and individuals of the EU,” stated the mentioned organizations.

The letter pleads to respect the UN and international conventions on human rights and freedoms, the judgments of two UN courts - ICJ and ICTY / MICT, for the establishment of which all members of the UN Security Council voted, and especially the reasons and goals of these courts, "which is why you unanimously decided to form the ICTY - the International Court of Justice for the former Yugoslavia ".

“The task of the Court was, among other things, the prevention and establishment of peace in the former Yugoslavia. The legacy and judgments of these courts bind us all. We, the victims of genocide, have never resorted to revenge, we have provided and continue to provide support to the ICTY / MICT through our testimony and cooperation, and by respecting the heritage of the mentioned courts, we are fulfilling your goals, is it said in the letter.

In this regard, the mentioned associations of victims and witnesses of genocide urge those to whom the letter is addressed that they also respect their decisions and the legacy of the two UN courts and stop Milorad Dodik and Nedeljko Čubrilović.
