Croat National Council condemns the parties that voted to annul Inzko's law

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 3 (FENA) - The Croat National Council of BiH (HNV BiH) on Friday strongly condemned the behavior of the political parties that recently supported the conclusion of the Serb People's Club in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The HNV reminded that the conclusion seeks the annulment of the decision of former High Representative Valentin Inzko, which introduced an amendment to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sanctioning the glorification of convicted war criminals, denial of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

"A support for such conclusions is an insult to all victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also an anti-European and anti-civilization act. It was clear to us that the political parties that proposed this conclusion would support it as well, because the policies of the SNSD and the SDS are very clear on this issue," it is stated in a reaction of HNV.

They point out that they are disappointed with the move of the HDZ, which, as they say, swears by European values and which, in political terms, should also stand up for Croats in the entity of Republika Srpska.

"We call on the HDZ BiH not to side with those who deny the existing final verdicts against war criminals and who glorify them. Earlier in our statements, we stated that hate speech and glorification of war criminals should not have a place in our society," the HNV states.

They add that this law cannot be interpreted in a way that it is directed against any of the peoples, "because there is no collective guilt but only individual responsibility."

"We note once again that this law sanctions all those who glorify war crimes, regardless of which nation they belonged to. We call on political actors not to hide behind the interests of the people, especially when it comes to the horrors of war and thus manipulate the emotions of ordinary people and use it all together for election campaign purposes," it is said in a statement from HNV BiH.
