SARAJEVO, December 6 (FENA) – Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, met today in Sarajevo with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti. During the conversation, both agreed that everyone in the Western Balkans should work on strengthening regional cooperation, peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations.

Bećirović emphasized that certain politicians from the BiH entity RS need to stop with their Goebbels-like propaganda.

"We are not discussing today the recognition of Kosovo, as it is clear to everyone that such a decision requires a consensus within the Presidency of BiH. Responsible people must always insist on respecting the principles of constitutionality and legality, as well as constructive discussions on the implementation of the agreements signed in the Berlin Process. We will not allow anyone to even think that they can discipline the leaders of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and dictate to them whom, where, and when they can talk to. Let them forget that permanently," said Bećirović.

It was jointly stated that Kosovo's decision to unilaterally allow free movement with ID cards for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina starting from January 1, 2025, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Berlin Process, is important.

Bećirović emphasized the significance of implementing all the obligations arising from the Berlin Process. The agreements signed in Berlin aim to improve regional connectivity in the Western Balkans, aligning it with the European Union standards.

Among other things, the Agreement on the Freedom of Movement with ID cards in the Western Balkans was signed. In this regard, he reminded that the agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and senior SNSD official Zoran Tegeltija. The agreement was also supported by Milorad Dodik, so it is irresponsible for him to oppose constructive discussions within the Berlin Process.

Bećirović emphasized the fact that Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo have ratified all agreements on the liberalization of movement in the region. Unfortunately, due to unreasonable blockades from the RS entity in BiH, citizens of Kosovo still do not have the ability to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina freely, which constitutes a violation of the signed Berlin Process agreements.

He reminded that former Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, had extended an official invitation to the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, to attend the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) summit in Sarajevo, which was a positive move by Dodik and should not be followed by a policy of discontinuity.

Bećirović thanked Kosovo for its solidarity and support in promoting the truth and justice about the genocide against Bosniaks. The Kosovo Assembly passed a resolution on July 7, 2021, condemning the genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995. The resolution mandates a ban on denying the genocide and the commemoration of July 11 as the Day of Remembrance for the Srebrenica Genocide, announced the BiH Presidency.
