SREBRENICA, January 9 (FENA) – Participants of today’s conference “Protection of Civil Liberties of the Returnees Community and Democratization in the Entity of Republika Srpska” signed the “Potočari Declaration” at the Potočari Memorial Center.

The conference was held at the initiative of the movement “Odgovor” (trans. “answer”). In addition to “Odgovor”, the organization of the conference included the representatives of the association Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, the Women of Podrinje and the Association of Families of Shahids and Fallen Soldiers of Srebrenica.

Today’s gathering was also attended by the representatives of four political parties: SDA, the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, BPS and the Independent BiH List (NBL).

The participants adopted certain conclusions at the end of the gathering and signed a joint “Potočari Declaration”.

The leader of “Odgovor”, Ćamil Duraković, told FENA that he was satisfied with today’s conference and he announced that similar conferences and meetings will be held in the upcoming period.

“Today we had with us four political parties out of ten that we had invited. We want to raise our voices and say that this entity is not exclusive to any one people. We have adopted the declaration and we are all in agreement that January 9 is an unconstitutional celebration. We have discussed the issue of the Bosnian language classes, the fact that the relevant institutions need to take specific steps towards the implementation of the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court concerning the 9th of January, to initiate concrete measures toward prevention and punishment of the denial of genocide and joint criminal enterprises. The parties which attended the meeting agreed that they would take part in the 2018 elections as a united and joint front,” said Mr. Duraković.
