MOSTAR, January 18 (FENA) - It is necessary to have the strength to raise above daily policy and courageously embark on ideas that build up the process of reconciliation and trust as well as effective co-operation and equality, said Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljic in an interview with the BiH edition of "Vecernji list" daily .
He pointed out he expected constructive suggestions and arrangements regarding the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis' meeting with Sultan Melekom el-Kamil, which will be celebrated next year.
Asked what more could be done in the areas of ecumenism and religious dialogue in BiH, Cardinal said "people from this area with sympathy love to see when we come together at certain gatherings or appearances".
- Each of our meetings sends a message of peace in this area. Sometimes we bishops and episcopes had annual meetings and shared common messages based on the gospel. I think that such meetings, if they were renewed, would be very important. In the area of religious dialogue, it is important that we find together, especially in television appearances, to send the stands of our communities based on our faith in order to build public opinion on religious principles - Cardinal Puljic asserted.
He said there were still many ideas, but they had to be agreed upon so that they would not be an imposition, but rather an agreement.
Commenting on the situation in the area of inter-religious dialogue in BiH, Cardinal Puljic underlined that everthing that was being done could be done better, adding that a great task was ahead of them , i.e. a moral renewal of society, a process of reconciliation and restoration of trust, a struggle for human rights, human dignity.
-We should not be unsatisfied because we have done many things together and there is a good will to continue working on the dialogue. Dialogue really has no alternatives. That is why we should not give up despite all the difficulties that can come up – concluded Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic.
