Most of the citizens are from Pakistan (12), Syria (11), Kosovo (11), Afghanistan (8), Morocco (6), Iran (4), Algeria (4), Palestine (2), Libya (2) and Tunisia (1), says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
Illegal migrants were discovered in the areas of Trebinje, Visegrad, Zvornik, Velika Kladusa, Foca, Bijeljina, Bihac, Brcko and Posušja. In addition, 31 people were prevented from entering BH in a way that they gave up on attempting to cross the border due to the engagement of police officers on the borderline between BiH and Montenegro, beyond the border crossings.
"We undertake a series of preventive and repressive measures and actions to monitor the state border: patrols, surveillance and observation, gathering of intelligence data, checkpoints, and implementation of operational actions and mixed patrols along BiH border with neighboring countries, said Director of the Border Police of BiH, Zoran Galic.
He added that the Trebinje Border Police Unit was deployed to an additional number of officers from other organizational units as well as specialized border control equipment.
Due to the registration of an increased number of cases of use of the cargo space of motor vehicles for smuggling migrants, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina introduced a provisional measure of increased control and mandatory inspection of all cargo vehicles that enter BiH from Serbia and Montenegro.
