SARAJEVO, January 22 (FENA) - Chairperson of the Foreign Trade and Customs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA), Šemsudin Mehmedović, and members Nikola Lovrinović and Mensura Beganović, as well as the deputy chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs and Trade Policy, Customs and Communications of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA Sead Kadicć and Mario Karamatić spoke today in Sarajevo with the Chairman of the Working Group for Accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ambassador Atanas Paparizov, about the dynamic of the final negotiations that BiH is conducting with the goal of joining the WTO.
The MPs of both houses of the BiH PA emphasized that there is full consensus among all political parties in BiH, as well as the political will of all institutions in order to complete the remaining bilateral negotiations with Brazil, Ukraine and Russia as soon as possible for the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the WTO.
Pointing out that he was encouraged by the full commitment of representatives of BiH’s most important institutions to finalize the negotiations on BiH's accession to the WTO, Ambassador Paparizov said that the Working Group meetings will be held in Geneva in February and May or June this year, and expressed optimism that at the meetings and negotiations with these three countries would produce concrete progress that would enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to sign the WTO Accession Treaty.
The final decision on the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the WTO should be made by the end of July, said Ambassador Paparizov, and added that he would do everything in his power so that the General Council of the WTO makes such a decision, the Public Relations Office of the BiH PA stated.
