SARAJEVO, January 25 (FENA) - The 11th session of the NATO Commission for Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held today under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Commission for NATO Integration Process of BiH and Deputy Foreign Minister of BiH Josip Brkić.
Mr. Brkić informed members of the Commission on activities related to NATO integration process in the past period, gave a snapshot of the situation and an overview of the future obligations.
He stressed that NATO member countries were intensively following the process of meeting the criteria from Tallinn as the main condition for activating the Membership Action Plan (MAP).
BiH was encouraged to continue with this process. NATO member states were asked for clear support for MAP activation. Regular bilateral consultations were held with individual countries as well as in the headquarters of the NATO Alliance in Brussels.
The Commission took the view that more work was needed to promote NATO integration through public diplomacy, in order to have greater visibility of the process.
The BiH NATO Integration Process Commission, in fulfillment of BiH's commitments arising from the NATO Partnership for Peace program, in early 2017 drafted an Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) for the period 2017-2019, which defines the goals and activities that BiH was planning to implement in that period.
During the second half of 2017, the required procedures were implemented to align the document with the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, which adopted the document on December 11, 2017. The next step is the legal procedure for adopting the document in the BiH Council of Ministers.
The Commission also discussed and adopted the Work Report for the second half of 2017. The participants of the meeting also discussed personnel issues within the Commission, stated the Public Relations Office of the BiH MFA.
