Presentation of expert analyzes of prosecuting corruption in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 25 (FENA) – Prosecuting corruption, the engagement of experts in those cases and the seizure of property acquired through corruption are three key issues in the BiH criminal justice system.

That was highlighted today at a gathering organized by the USAID’s Justice Project in BiH, at which the representatives of the BiH Judicial Community discussed and analyzed these topics.

“All the issues covered by these expert analyzes pose challenges and obstacles to successful and efficient prosecution of complex forms of criminal acts, primarily corruption,” said Prosecutor and Member of the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), Berina Alihodžić.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Ms. Alihodžić pointed out that these analyzes and their recommendations will, in the long run, be useful to the entire judiciary community in BiH, but also to policymakers when it comes to adopting a proper strategic approach to the fight against corruption.

The process of drafting the presented analyzes was actively participated by representatives of the judicial community in BiH; and in partnership with the Standing Commission on Prosecution Efficiency, which operates within the HJPC BiH, the USAID's Judicial Project has organized a series of consultative events involving representatives of relevant institutions and organizations that work in the areas covered by the analyzes.

Presentation of these expert analyzes was attended by a significant number of representatives of the judicial community in BiH.

The analyzes from today are available on the USAID’s Justice Project in BiH website www.usaidjp.ba - section "Publications", the organizers said.
