BANJA LUKA, January 29 (FENA) - President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik said today that “it is a serious precedent that only one member of the BiH Presidency attends today’s talks in Istanbul and that is not the chairman.”
He believes that there are attempts to give such moves some other dimension.
“It is dangerous for BiH and comes from those who have persistently tried to appear as its defenders, which is what Bakir Izetbegović is doing, but in fact undermines the essence of its institutions and its existence,” Mr. Dodik said.
Commenting on Turkey's President Tayyip Erdoğan's meeting with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović, he said that RS has a strong relationship with Serbia and that Turkey “is dramatically interfering here by giving support directly to the Bosniaks.”
Saying he does not know what the topic of the Istanbul meeting will be, he argues that a new practice is being introduced that a BiH Presidency Member is again attempting to present himself as a representative of BiH in these talks.
“As far as I understand, there is no decision of the BiH Presidency behind this, other than the decision of Izetbegović and possibly Erdoğan. Vučić is not the one who can determine the format of the meeting because he is visiting Turkey,” Mr. Dodik added in a statement to journalists in Banja Luka.
