SARAJEVO, January 30 (FENA) - On 26 January 2018 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the Indictment charging the accused Alminko Islamović with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173(1), Subparagraphs a), c), e) and f), of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the criminal offense of Destruction of Cultural, Historical and Religious Monuments under Article 183(1) of the same Code.
The Indictment charges the accused that between March and October 1992, during the armed conflict in BiH between the Croat Defense Council (HVO) and the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), in the territory of the Bosanski Brod municipality, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a member of the Military Police within the 101st HVO Brigade in Bosanski Brod, in the capacity of Military Police Platoon Commander, alone or together with other HVO members, he acted in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, specifically Article 3 of the IV Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949 for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of Armed Conflict and Article 1 of Additional Protocol II of 1977, by taking part in unlawful detention of Serb civilians, their killing, physical and mental abuse, pillaging and burning Serb property, burning and destroying cultural, historical and religious monuments, and by taking people to forced labor, stated the BiH Court.
