MOSTAR, February 1 (FENA) - Rector of Mostar University, Zoran Tomic, Prof. PhD, opened on Thursday in Mostar the First University Business Forum, addressing opportunities and perspectives for better linkage and cooperation between the University and the business sector.
He pointed out that the University and society were facing new challenges, which could be a threat, but also a chance and opportunity.
- Such challenges need strong and resolute leadership, brave people and futuristic decisions. That is the reason for which we are all the decision-makers of the University, Faculty, Board of Governors, founders and the economic sector gathered here- Tomic said.
He pointed out that there were more strategic challenges, noting that the University of Mostar had begun the strategic creation of its future, which meant that they started drafting the University Development Strategy.
According to Tomic words, this strategy should address challenges when it comes to strategic goals and their implementation deadlines.
One of the priorities is the integration of Mostar University, which will give the University a greater and stronger dimension, said Rector Tomic. He pointed out, among other things, that they wanted to be the University of the future, mostly because of the students. Speaking of co-operation with businessmen, he noted that so far they had been insufficiently associated with them as a strategic partner.
Tomic has called on businessmen for strategic partnership because, as he said, they could shape the market through joint actions, while co-operation between them should provide for students practical work in companies. He also urged deans and professors to revise plans and programs with the aim to cooperate more closely with experts from the business sector.
