Bevanda: No initiative to introduce excise tax on electricity

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 2 (FENA) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Chairman of the Steering Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority Vjekoslav Bevanda said today that the Board did not receive any initiative to amend the Excise Tax Law in BiH that would introduce excise tax on electricity.

"There was no initiative, nor has the ITA BiH considered any new draft law on excise tax and I do not understand why this is being presented as an issue in the public unless it is in the interest of someone to raise unnecessary tensions," Bevanda emphasized in his statement to FENA.

He added that the prognosis on introduction of new taxes or fees are in no way substantiated in the current activities of ITA but are indicative to malicious and incorrect interpretation of his statements regarding the beginning of the application of the amended Excise Tax Law and the construction of motorways in BiH.
