SARAJEVO, February 6 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Communications and Transport Ismir Jusko and Turkey's Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koç today, after the meeting dedicated to the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway construction, said that there was a general support for this project and that all the details, including funding models, can be discussed only after all relevant data have been collected and after the feasibility study is finished.

Minister Jusko held a meeting today in Sarajevo with representatives of the Republic of Turkey, led by Deputy Director-General of the Motorway Directorate of the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Tutaş.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the FBiH Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska, the Brčko District Government and public companies in charge of roads in the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska.

“The purpose of today's meeting is the intention of Turkey's representative to collect all necessary information on both routes of future Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway in order to prepare feasibility studies as better as possible,” said Mr. Jusko at a press conference.

He announced that the Turkish delegation of experts would visit both routes in the next two days to collect all relevant information directly on the field. As Mr. Jusko added, the view of Turkey's delegation is that it is difficult to provide at this time a precise financing model until all the details have been put on paper.

Turkish Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koç said another delegation of Turkish experts was staying in Belgrade today to have similar talks started in Serbia as well.

Two expert teams were formed after the trilateral meeting in Istanbul of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović last week, at which the proposal to build both offered routes was accepted (Sarajevo-Tuzla-Brčko-Bijeljina- Belgrade, and the route Sarajevo-Višegrad-Belgrade) in the combination highway-motorway.

“After the last week’s high-level meeting in Istanbul, the President summoned all relevant institutions and their highest representatives and asked them to start working in order to show as soon as possible how the project realization will take place. As a result of this strongly expressed political will, the two delegations of experts have, as of today, started communication and conversations on both sides. Today's meeting was a great opportunity to get the relevant information first-hand,” said Turkish Ambassador.

Mr. Koç stressed that this was a significant regional socio-economic project for Turkey, with a view to contributing to the social and economic strengthening of the region.
