Čović: Election Law amendments the issue of utmost importance for the Croats

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) - Amending the Election Law is today a focal point matter for the Croat people, the smallest in number in BiH, said the BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović in an introductory speech at the traditional evening of members and friends of the Bosnian Croat Association "Prsten", (Ring), at its branch in Đakovo.

“We have the right to demand to be a constitutive and equal nation in BiH. The Constitutional Court's decision that the legitimate representatives of the constituent peoples must represent their peoples in the Presidency of BiH and in the Parliamentary Assembly will have to be implemented.

This is not a question of any individual, any political option, nor any political party, this is a question of the Croat people, the question of its survival, both in the Republic of Croatia and in BiH," said Čović.

He also stated that “the pressure coming from different sources of political power, which would like to see Croats out of the territory of BiH' and turn them into a national minority, will not suceeed."
