SARAJEVO, April 23 (FENA) - All levels of government need to get involved in solving the problem of company ArcellorMittal Zenica, the biggest steel producer in BiH, especially the entities because 10 000 workplaces are endangered in the plant and mines, it was concluded at yesterday's meeting between Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović and Director General of ArcelorMittal Bijou Nairo, which was arranged due to difficulties this company is experiencing.
Difficulties were caused by introduction of protective measures on the export of steel by the United States, European Union but also by customs introduced by Kosovo.
Minister Šarović emphasized that the Ministry has already taken series of activities to mitigate consequences of implementation of the Implementation Regulation of the European Commission on introducing final protective measures on import of steel and that the EU introduced specific quota only for BiH.
However, that only refers to the so called production category 13, while in the meantime other potential markets of Turkey, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt also introduced protective measures, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH stated.
According to the information of ArcellorMittal, survival of their company has been questioned due to limitation of export of their products, they need to reduce investments and projects, and some commenced projects have been "put on hold".
